Vasaka consists of fresh, dried, mature leaves of Adhatoda vasica Nees (Fam. Acanthaceae), a sub-herbaceous bush, found throughout the year in plains and sub-Himalayan tracts in India, ascending upto 1200m, flowers during February-March and also at the end of rainy season, leaves stripped off from older stems and dried in drying sheds.

- Reduces eye swelling – If you get swollen eyes after looking at the laptop screen for a long time, then some home remedies can help reduce this swelling. As mentioned before, Malabar Nut has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce any type of inflammation. Warm up the fresh flowers of Malabar nut and keep them on your eyes to reduce the swelling.
- Relieves pain in the gums – You may suffer from gingivitis pain if you do not clean your gums properly. Malabar nut has some properties which help in reducing the pain and swelling of the gums. Adhatoda Vasica can be used on gums after the doctor’s advice. If there is a serious problem with the gums, it is advisable to contact a dental specialist instead of trying home remedies.
- Heals the wounds in the mouth – Malabar nut is beneficial in reducing mouth sores, swelling, and pain. According to Ayurveda, it has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, which are effective in reducing the symptoms of mouth blisters. If any drug reaction has caused mouth ulcers, then Malabar nut can be used to soothe it. Many people use Malabar nut for cleaning their teeth and mouth.
- Relieves menstrual pain – It is common for women to have pain during menstruation. But many women can use the leaves of Vasaka plant to reduce the problem of excessive pain. Cook the leaves of Vasaka plant, radish, and carrot seeds in a glass of water and consume it.
- Beneficial in Asthma – Asthma is a respiratory disease in which people feel suffocated. Many people face health issues due to changing weather; similarly, people with asthma also face difficulties. To get relief from asthma, dry some fresh Malabar nut and grind it with a black gourd to make a powder and inhale its smoke; this process gives relief in breathing.
- Beneficial in piles – In many people, eating hot and spicy food increases the problem of piles. In such a situation, Vasaka is a good home remedy that can provide relief from piles. To use it, prepare a powder of Vasaka leaves and mix it with white sandalwood. Eat this mixture powder twice a day; doing this, gradually reduces the problem of piles.
